Dear Yogis,

December always feels like such an appropriate time for reflection. As holiday spirit begins to bubble around, it’s a cozy time to look back at our year reflecting upon the highs the lows, and the lessons to bring into the New Year.

So many blessings came to It’s Yoga this year, including trainers from China, Taiwan, Japan, Holland, Nicaragua, Sweden, Mexico, Columbia, Bahamas, England, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Russia, Canada, and Jordan, Argentina, France, and Lebanon. We feel honored to introduce so many talented and authentic new instructors out into the world sharing their practice. As we continue to attract people from all over the world, we feel blessed to share this practice and watch it travel to far off places.

I had the pleasure of visiting many of the It’s Yoga communities this year, and feel overwhelmed by the love and encouragement I found in each of your studios. Trainings in Stockholm and Florence rejuvenated my belief that a simple yoga practice can change the world by empowering individuals worldwide. I want to thank all the It’s Yoga’s for their continued work and dedication to It’s Yoga. You are my inspiration. I also want to acknowledge the growth of yoga in Japan, and our Japanese graduates (over 40 new practitioners!)

The theme of the New Year, prepare your mind for what’s to come, continues to ring in my mind. Over the years we’ve been focused on preparing our bodies, deepening our asanas, enjoying all the movement on our mats and the change it creates off our mat. And this year, we’re looking to stay in check with the “mind” piece of the practice, as we study the benefits of the mind-body-breath connection.

When I think about the theme, “prepare your mind,” I take the best from the past, and leave all the rest behind. In the next couple of years, I personally feel that we will all be challenged to grow and develop new goals. For example, living simply with less consumption. Our country is drowning in samsara, and yoga is teaching us to evolve from the darkness into the light, leading us from the unreal to the real. Many of you have heard me say, “you are not your car, you are not your job, you are not your house.” You are the spirit that lives deep inside.

We invite you to check in with us to re-invigorate your practice by taking a workshop or training next year, and re-establish yourself in the silent revolution. We have a Rocket training planned in February for those past TT grads looking to add to their experience. The It’s Yoga story is growing and we’re sending you an invitation to share all the blessings you’ve received with your friends and your family during this holiday season. In order to make this upcoming year a successful one, meaning rich in love, health and delight, we have many trainings on the horizon. Please visit our website at www.itsyoga.net.

In focusing on the theme for this year, prepare your mind for what’s to come, reflect upon this common parable. There was a King who had all the material wealth of a flourishing kingdom, however, he was unable to enjoy their many blessings. There was always something missing, because he trained his body, had external wealth, there was little left for inner peace and gratitude. But as we train our minds, we can more fully appreciate the lives we live. Our minds are more open to the nourishment form the heart, and the qualities associated with the heart, universal themes of compassion, kindness, patience and peace.

All of you, always aspire to be the best you can be, celebrate what you have, and smile at the people you see on the street. The sooner we begin to see each other as brothers and sisters, the closer we get to Peace on Earth.

Happy Holidays dear ones, come and see me soon.

Love and peace,
Larry and the Gang in SF.
